Usability Testing is as important as Functional Testing
Often management, entrepreneurs are too focussed on building functionalities and testing them on their skill’s level which is a big mistake. We tend to develop softwares for users but end up developing it for the management and the most common statement we follow is “I like it this way… you just implement it”. This defies the first law of UCD.
Usability testing help us in avoiding these issues and focusing on user’s requirements, expectations, skills and understandings. It helps in understanding or knowing your users better.
The designers or developers are often highly technical people and unfortunately the way these people think and act are totally different from the way end user does.
Most people assume that good usability results from common sense reasoning. In reality common sense is not so common. Good usable sites do not happen accidentally; they are the results of iterative design cycle and exhaustive testing.
